FWCS Mourn Wendy Robinson Death
Robinson was a pioneer in education, as she was the first person of her gender, the first African American, and the first graduate of FWCS to be appointed superintendent of the district, according to a statement released by FWCS to WANE 15. Robinson received his diploma from Central High School and then continued his education at DePauw University.
Robinson continued her education and went on to receive a doctorate degree from Ball State University in addition to two master’s degrees from Purdue Fort Wayne (which was formerly known as IPFW). In addition to receiving numerous other awards, Robinson was honored with the title of Superintendent of the Year in the state of Indiana in 2018.
During that time period, Robinson gave an interview to WANE 15 in which he stated, “I don’t see this as anything for me. My perspective is that it is an acknowledgment of the hard work that is done in our area on a daily basis. And because of this, it is even more essential that people understand that the wonderful things that are taking place in the district are a direct result of the residents who live there.
Robinson was a dedicated member of the community and served on a number of boards, some of which include Parkview Health and Learning Forward. In 2022, Robinson was honored by having the Family and Community Engagement Center of the school system, which she had helped establish in 2016, named after her.
Condolences are been sent to the family members, friends, Fort Wayne Community Schools and the entire community after Dr. Wendy Robinson passed away recently.
