Tuan Le Death: 40-year-old Officer Tuan Le has been identified as the Oakland Police Officer who was shot and killed in the line of duty Friday. According to reports, Tuan Le died after he was shot while responding to a burglary report at a business on Embarcadero in Oakland, California.
According to the departments, two officers on plain clothes responded to reports of a burglary at a dispensary on Embarcadero. One officer was struck by gunfire whole sitting inside the car near the scene.
Responding officers transported the two officers to nearby Highland Hospital, where Tuan succumbed to his injury. “It is with a heavy heart that we come together to share the devastating news of the passing of our colleague and friend, who was killed in the line of duty today in the 400 block of Embarcadero,” the Oakland Police Department said on Facebook.
Law enforcement agencies say officials received an initial burglary at the cannabis dispensary. Officers responded and after investigations , cleared the scene. Few hours later a second burglary attempted, officers were notified and on arrival, Officer Le was fatally shot. The incident happened at approximately a.m. Friday.

For the past two years, Officer Le served as the Community Resource Officer (CRO) in West Oakland, where he devoted himself to strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the residents of Oakland. His tireless efforts in fostering positive relationships made a lasting impact.
Officer Le was a devoted husband to his wife. His passing leaves a void in the law enforcement community, the city of Oakland, and in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, his smile, and the positive change he brought to the lives of those around him.
He is a true hero who dedicated his life to making our community safer. Officer Le is the 54th Oakland Police Officer killed in the line of duty serving the residents of Oakland, Oakland Police said in a statement.
