According to reports, 68-year-old Richard Finch, a resident of Malone, New York, and an employee at Titus Mountain Ski Resort passed away from injuries sustained in the following accident.

How did the accident happen?

At around 2:55 p.m. on January 18, 2024, State Police personnel were dispatched to Titus Mountain Ski Resort on Johnson Road in the town of Malone to support EMS. Following an investigation, it was confirmed that Richard P. Finch, a 68-year-old resident of Malone, NY, and an employee at Titus Mountain Ski Resort, experienced an inadvertent incident on the chairlifts while serving on the ski patrol. However, Finch was pronounced dead at the scene. Malone EMS and Titus Mountain Ski Patrol collaborated in managing the situation. The incident remains under investigation.

The ski area boasts 52 trails and glades over three inter-connected mountains.[1] Titus operates 10 lifts, as well as a three-lane tubing hill.
