Tamanika Woods Death – A woman has died following a deadly shooting that happened inside a McDonald’s in southwest Atlanta on Wednesday. The victim has been identified as Tamanika Woods. According to reports, Tamanika Woods passed away from injuries sustained from the incident.
Law enforcement responded to an incident at the restaurant on Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. shortly before 2:45 p.m. According to the police, a woman was shot during a confrontation with another woman that escalated to gunfire. Tamanika Woods was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead due to her injuries.
Authorities have officially announced the arrest and charging of 19-year-old T’Niya Evans with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies, and theft by receiving stolen property.
It has been disclosed that the firearm utilized by Evans was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a downtown parking garage approximately five miles away from McDonald’s. However, law enforcement did not provide details on whether Evans was the individual responsible for the theft of the firearm.
Police presence was evident at the restaurant on Wednesday afternoon, marked by crime scene tape cordoning off the area and multiple police vehicles in the parking lot. Presently, Evans is in custody at the Fulton County Jail.
Rachel Mitchell, a local McDonald’s owner and operator released the following statement:
“We are deeply upset by the senseless act of violence that took place at our West End location yesterday. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones, and we have offered our full support to the Atlanta Police Department as part of their investigation. We’re directing any further questions to local law enforcement at this time.”
Atlanta police tell Lincoln that the gun Evans used is one of 1,848 guns reported stolen from cars this year.
Tamanika Woods obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by the family.
