Suspect Roger Peay, Involved in Uber Robbery, Arrested Following Foot Chase

U.S — A Burlington resident’s alleged involvement in an armed robbery of an Uber driver led to a dramatic foot pursuit involving law enforcement officers, a K9 unit, and federal agents in a South End neighborhood. Roger Peay, 33, is now in custody following the eventful chase.

The series of events unfolded when a Burlington patrol officer spotted Peay around 1:30 p.m. on a Friday. Peay, identified as a suspect in the alleged armed robbery of an Uber driver that had occurred late on the previous Monday, immediately took off, initiating a frenetic foot pursuit through the neighborhood.

During the pursuit, Peay demonstrated his agility by vaulting over fences and traversing backyards on King Street. The intensity of the chase prompted police officers from multiple units to converge on the scene. Alongside local law enforcement, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and a K9 unit from South Burlington joined the chase in an effort to apprehend Peay.

The King Street Center, situated in the vicinity, was briefly placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of its occupants. The combined efforts of police officers, federal agents, and K9 units culminated in Peay’s discovery. He was located hiding in a backyard and promptly taken into custody, effectively bringing an end to the pursuit.

Peay now faces the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in connection to the alleged armed robbery. During his court appearance, he was ordered to be held for lack of $10,000 bail.

The incident serves as a testament to the collaborative nature of law enforcement agencies and their unwavering commitment to ensuring public safety. The swift response and coordinated efforts of various units resulted in the apprehension of a suspect, thereby upholding the principles of justice and accountability within the community.
