Suspect Arrested in Murder of 11-Year-Old Texas Girl Found Under Bed

U.S — On Friday, the police named the young man, who is 18, as a person of interest in their investigation. Since that time, investigators were able to gather new evidence linking him to the death of Maria Gonzalez, and they were able to arrest him in Shreveport, Louisiana, according to a statement that was released by the Pasadena Police Department on Saturday.

According to the police, the young man, who is only 18, will be charged with capital murder and is currently waiting to be extradited to Texas. According to police statements released on Saturday, a man who is accused of sexually assaulting and killing an 11-year-old girl and then concealing her body under her bed in the flat that she shared with her family in a suburb of Houston has been detained.

The Pasadena Police Chief Josh Bruegger was quoted by KHOU-TV as saying that investigators questioned and took DNA from the suspect on the same day that Maria Gonzalez’s body was located. However, they claimed that the suspect was not on their radar at the time of the interviews or DNA collection.

The Gonzales family has issued a statement in which they express their gratitude to the Pasadena and Louisiana police departments for their work in apprehending the culprit. The statement included the following phrase: “May the full weight of the law be burdened upon him for what he has done to my daughter.”

According to the investigation conducted by the police, Maria Gonzalez was home alone on the previous Saturday morning when she heard a knock at the door. The young woman sent a message to her father, Carmelo Gonzalez, who had just arrived at his place of employment. He mentioned to KHOU that he had instructed his daughter not to answer the door when anybody knocked. Maria Gonzalez said that she would not and that she would remain confined to her bedroom. On the other hand, she did not pick up any of his subsequent calls.

According to statements made by police on Tuesday, Carmelo Gonzalez reportedly asked his brother and sister-in-law, who also reside in the same apartment complex, to check on his daughter. When they walked inside, they discovered that the front door was unlocked and that there were items that were out of place. However, they were unable to find her.

After Carmelo Gonzalez had returned to his apartment, he conducted a check of the space and discovered that his daughter had been placed in a laundry basket, wrapped in a garbage bag and hidden underneath her bed. The youngster had been sexually molested and strangled before her death, according to the police.
