Shawn Murphy Death – A 26-year-old man has died following a deadly shooting that happened in the middle of a road in Mississauga on Wednesday evening. The victim has been identified as Shawn Murphy. According to Peel Regional Police investigators, Shawn Murphy, a resident of Mississauga, Ontario passed away from gunshot injuries.

How did the Mississauga shooting happen?

The shooting happened on the road during the evening rush hour period. Officers were called to the area of Battleford Road east of Glen Erin Drive, near Meadowvale Town Centre, around 5:15 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

Shawn Murphy’s cause of death

Shawn Murphy was found at the scene with gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital with injuries deemed life-threatening. On Thursday morning, authorities disclosed that he died due to his injuries.

Investigation ongoing

The suspect accused in the case has been identified as 23-year-old Christian Marius Kamukuny, and he is currently facing various charges related to firearms and drugs. Law enforcement notes that at the time of his apprehension, Kamukuny was already subject to a lifetime prohibition on possessing firearms.

Kamukuny’s arrest occurred merely six hours after an unrelated incident. During this separate event, York police seized a loaded firearm after searching for a vehicle stopped at a RIDE spot check near Highway 7 West and Bowes Road.

Authorities suspect that the seized firearm is a ghost gun manufactured using a 3D printer. Three individuals are now facing charges in connection with this distinct incident.

Shawn Murphy obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by the family.

The shooting is the first homicide in Peel Region in 2024. Mississauga is a large Canadian city neighboring Toronto on Lake Ontario. On the lakefront, Port Credit has shops, a working lighthouse, and a marina with a grounded freighter.
