Shane Miller Death – Shane Miller, a resident of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and the City Commissioner sadly passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023. He was confirmed dead by the City of Sault Ste. Marie, MI through a social media publication on Tuesday that read “The City of Sault Ste. Marie is mourning the loss of City Commissioner Shane Miller who passed away Monday, October 23rd, after a long battle with an illness.”

“On behalf of the City Commissioners, Administration, and Staff, we want to express our condolences to Commissioner Miller’s family. Shane is going to be sincerely missed. He had an incredible impact on our community,” Mayor Gerrie said. “Commissioner Miller was a dedicated City Commissioner, colleague, and friend who cared deeply for Sault Ste. Marie. His thoughtful participation at Commission meetings and friendship will be greatly missed. He touched so many throughout his remarkable life and we will never forget his contributions to making Sault Ste. Marie the best it can be.”

Who was Shane Miller?

In order to cover a commissioner vacancy that was scheduled to end in 2019, Shane Miller was appointed to the City Commission in 2017. In November 2019, Commissioner Miller was elected to the City Commission. Many people adored Shane, and he will be sadly missed. He was the life of the party and never failed to make people grin with a clever joke. Every Christmas Eve, Shane enjoyed dressing up as Santa for the kids. He never asked for anything in return, just the joy and smiles of seeing them. He was Kim’s, Natasha’s, and Tiffany’s beloved brother.

Fundraising for Shane Miller’s funeral

Tiffany Schmidt is organizing a fundraiser to help cover expenses for Miller’s funeral. The fundraising page organized to raise $3,000 has raised the sum of $570 at the time of this publication.
