Sandy Springs Lockdown: Manhunt, crash following police chase in Sandy Springs, GA

Sandy Springs Shooting Investigations: A man is on the run after leading police on a cross-county chase overnight, which culminated in an accident. Police say it began in Whitfield County with Georgia State Patrol troopers and continued into Sandy Springs in northern Fulton County, where the suspect slammed into a pole and fled.

Authorities have not revealed what prompted the chase, but a multi-agency effort is underway to apprehend the culprit. According to police, he is not believed to be armed. A portion of Northside Drive between Mount Vernon Highway and Powers Ferry Road is closed until Georgia Power personnel replace the pole and lines damaged in the incident.

The power is temporarily out in the region. Georgia Power reports that 104 homes and businesses are impacted. The Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School on Mount Vernon Hwy NW closed early due to a power outage.
