Sam Piazza Death – Chris Piazza’ son and Sewanee: The University Of The South student Sam Piazza sadly passed away at the age of 22. He died leaving behind his beloved family and friends who will always remember him for his contagious smile. On Monday 6th November 2023, his parent wrote an open letter the Sewanee purple, the circumstances surrounding the death of their son and how “Sam did not overdose on cocaine”.

Sam, a graduate of Catholic High School for Boys in 2018, spent all four years on the school’s tennis team and was an active participant in the Broadcast/journalism team. Following his high school graduation, he enrolled at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., focusing on the field of economics. During his time there, he became a proud member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, cherishing the friendships he cultivated within the group. Aside from his academic pursuits, Sam was actively involved in the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, serving as an acolyte for a remarkable five years.

His dedication to his faith and community was evident through his commitment and service. Driven by a passion for exploration, Sam developed a love for travel early on, embarking on a memorable trip to Italy with his parents and close friends at the young age of 10. This experience ignited a lifelong curiosity for discovering new places, leading him to journey to Paris with his parents after his high school graduation. His recent voyage to Costa Rica captured his heart with its breathtaking landscapes and delectable cuisine, further fueling his desire for global exploration.

Survived and Preceded By

Sam is survived by his parents, Chris and Melody Piazza of Little Rock, his brother Jason of Fayetteville (Anna), his brother, Alex of Little Rock, his extended family including his aunts Myra Huth (Tom), Peggy DuVall (Twig Satterfield), Marilyn Harrison (Al), Ileana Dobbins (Alan), Heather Piazza, his uncle Bobby Harris (Vesta), his cousin and best friend, Brandon Dobbins, his cousin, Andrew and a whole host of cousins here and in Puerto Rico. Sam also leaves behind his beloved Avery who he adored from the minute he met her.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sam and Francis Piazza of Little Rock and his maternal grandparents, Bob and Gloria Harris of Hamburg, and his Uncle David Piazza of Little Rock.
