Artist Randall Sexton was born in 1958 in East Hampton, Connecticut. He was a renowned California-based artist and gained national acclaim for his vibrant oil paintings depicting everyday scenes. Originally from rural Connecticut, he relocated to San Francisco in 1980 after earning a BFA from the University of CT, Storrs.

Establishing himself in the Bay area, Sexton became well-known not only as a fine artist but also as an educator. Until 2005, he taught drawing, painting, and composition at the San Francisco Academy of Art. Currently, he conducts private workshops nationally and internationally, including leading a Plein air painters’ group in Tuscany, Italy.

Sexton’s artistic prowess has been acknowledged with national awards, including the prestigious “Artists’ Choice Award” at the Laguna Beach Plein Air Event in 2008. He achieved the same honor in Telluride, CO, and Napa, CA in the same year. Other recognitions include the Jurors Choice – “Best of Show” at various painting festivals in Sedona, AZ, and Maui, HI.

His work has been featured in esteemed publications like “American Artist,” “Southwest Art,” and “Plein Air” (now “Fine Art Connoisseur”). Sexton is affiliated with artistic associations such as the California Art Club, the Laguna Beach Plein Air Painters Association, “The Outsiders,” and the Baywood Artists Group.

Despite his extensive travels for art, Sexton often works in his studio in historic downtown Crockett, providing fresh insights into his artistic process, emphasizing staying present “at the moment.”
