Qlera Allen and Kernishion Charleston Death – Following a multi-county manhunt on Sunday, two ladies were killed in Tallahassee, and the suspect was found dead in Alachua County. As the Tallahassee Police Department began its investigation into the double homicide at the Mission Hill Apartments in northwest Tallahassee, few details were available Sunday night, July 23rd, 2023. According to the authorities, two adult females were found dead when officers arrived on the site.
A suspect was located, and later that day, he took police on a multi-county pursuit on Interstate 75 that came to a conclusion in Alachua County. A Facebook post from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office stated that “it appears that the subject inside of the vehicle took his own life.” Tallahassee police were alerted to a shooting at an apartment building in the 2400 block of Mission Road on Sunday at 5:47 p.m., according to TPD.
According to a Facebook post by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, TPD detectives identified a suspect after discovering the two dead women. The suspect was discovered by the Florida Highway Patrol traveling on Interstate 75 from Columbia County into Alachua. According to the post, deputies used tire-deflation devices, shut off exits, and one deputy used a PIT maneuver to ram the suspect, stopping the vehicle on I-75 between the Northwest 39th Avenue and Newberry Road exits.
A SWAT team, an armored vehicle, and medical professionals were dispatched when law enforcement was unable to contact the driver. They discovered the suspect dead as they walked up to the automobile. When the ACSO deputies were finally able to get close to the car, it appeared “that the subject inside of the vehicle took his own life, but all investigation into the subject operating the car and his subsequent death will be conducted by investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol,” according to the social media post.
Any information regarding the suspicious vehicle or its occupants should be forwarded to the Florida Highway Patrol, the ACSO is requesting. This weekend’s shooting marks the second instance of gun violence and the eighth shooting this month.
