Pierce Norton Death – Officer Pierce Fitzgerald Norton was an Officer with Boston Police Department passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 11, as a result of a medical emergency. Following his graduation from the Boston Police Academy, Officer Norton was appointed to the Boston Police Department on December 9, 2013. Prior to that, he worked as a Probationary Officer and was assigned to the Districts B-3, A-1, and D-4. After that, he was given the position of Permanent Boston Police Officer and assigned to District A-1.
The Citywide Bicycle Unit was the one that Officer Norton was assigned to in the year 2018. Throughout his career, Officer Norton was honored with multiple commendations for his devoted service, including acclaim for his reaction to complaints regarding the quality of life. During his time as a member of the Citywide Bicycle Unit and the COBRA Team, Officer Norton was honored with a letter of commendation for his effective response to the demonstrations that took place in Boston in May of 2020.
In addition, the Citywide Bicycle Unit was honored with a Unit Citation for their devoted efforts, which was presented at the Annual Awards Ceremony held by the Boston Police Relief Association in 2021. The people who worked with Officer Norton, his superiors, and everyone else who knew him held him in very high regard. This was true not only within the Department but also among the people he served.
