Peter “Pete” Ruppert Grand Rapids MI, Fusion Education Group founder died at 59

Peter Ruppert Death – Peter Ruppert, the founder/CEO of Fusion Education Group has died unexpectedly. Peter Ruppert affectionately known to many as “Pete” was announced dead on Tuesday, the 1st of August 2023. He passed away at the age of 59. He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, entrepreneur, business leader, mentor, author, teacher, and civic leader.

So far, no official news on his cause of death has been released. While he will be missed by so many, Pete’s contributions truly made the world a better place, and his big heart and humble compassion for others will live on forever as his legacy.

Who was Peter Ruppert?

Pete Ruppert was born in Oakland, California, and grew up in a lively household with five siblings. He was the beloved husband of Jessica Lumsden, with whom he raised four children in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. Pete was a dedicated family man, always investing in his kids’ lives and encouraging them to think big and set goals.

Professionally, Pete was a successful entrepreneur, founding and leading several businesses. He was the founder/CEO of Fusion Education Group, an innovative education company focused on individualized student needs, which grew to nearly 100 schools nationwide.

Pete was also the author of “Limitless: Nine Steps to Launch Your One Extraordinary Life” and co-founded “Armed Forces Thanksgiving,” an annual event that supported military veterans in Western Michigan.

Pete’s values as a “Man for Others” were strengthened during his time at St. Xavier High School and DePauw University, where he later served on the Board of Trustees. He pursued an MBA at Harvard Business School.

His life was characterized by a genuine love for others and a warm smile. His happy place was with his family on the cottage deck overlooking Lake Michigan, holding a single-malt scotch and the American flag proudly flying beside him.

Survived by

Pete is survived by his wife, Jess, their four kids, Jack (27), Grace (24), Pierce (24), and Ben (17), and his siblings Leslie (Ruppert) Krehnbrink, Tim Ruppert, John Ruppert, Matt Ruppert, Sarah (Ruppert) Gigliello. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Penny Lumsden, and Jess’s siblings, Stew and Rick Lumsden. Lastly, he is survived by all his wonderful nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 4th from 3 pm – 6 pm at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 5th at 11 am at Mayflower Congregational Church, 2345 Robinson Road SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
