UPDATE: The suspect involved in the deadly shooting outside Bayside Lounge has been identified as the recently fired New Bedford Deputy Fire Chief Paul Coderre. According to sources, Paul was refrained from leaving the pub due to his intoxicated state. Paul brandished a weapon after law enforcement agencies were called.

Paul fired at the responding officers, striking one on the ankle. Officers returned fired. He died at the scene. The injured officer was rushed to an area hospital in stable condition. Paul passed away from the officer-involved incident. Paul was fired from the New Bedford Fire Department for allegedly faking an injury leave after a social media picture showed he went on a vacation with his girlfriend.

Fairhaven Police-Involved Shooting Investigations: Law enforcement agencies in Fairhaven, Massachusetts are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting Friday. According to reports, a police officer has been rushed to an area hospital after a shooting involving an alcohol intoxicated male.

The incident happened at approximately 6:11 P.M., Friday evening. Officers were called to the scene of an armed subject at the parking lot of the lounge. One officer was shot in the ankle. At least two dozen police vehicles and mutual aids are currently at the scene of the incident. A heavy police presence is currently in the area of Sconticut Neck Rd.

Mutual aids from New Bedford, MA are also on the scene. Staging area for ambulances and medics at Wood School. Fairhaven Police say officers returned fired, striking the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
