Orla Baxendale – Orla Baxendale, a resident of New York, New York, and a talented ballet dancer has sadly passed away. She was announced dead by her beloved sister Niamh Baxendale through a social media publication that read “We are all devastated by the loss of our beautiful and talented Órla who was taken from us far too soon. It’s incomprehensible that allergies can still take lives in 2024. Please read about anaphylaxis as you may help to save someone’s life one day.”
Who was Orla Baxendale?
Órla Baxendale hails from Lancashire, United Kingdom, where she began her Irish dancing training and competition career at a very young age. She trained at Elmhurst Ballet School and Northern Ballet Academy since she loves to dance. She had previously attended St. Veronica’s Primary School and Phoenix Academy of Irish Dancing as an Irish dancer. She relocated to New York in 2018 to attend The Ailey School on scholarship.
After receiving her degree, Órla has worked as a professional dancer and performer in the UK and the US, having worked in live stage productions, film and television, classical ballet, contemporary dance, and musical theater, among other genres. She has danced at The Choreographers Carnival and worked for Coach, H&M, NYFW, and Commodity Fragrances.
About Órla Baxendale
She was chosen to play Juliet in two different Romeo and Juliet productions: Women In Dance’s Romeo and Juliet – The Choice and Sir Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures Company’s World Premiere. Órla most recently appeared at Lincoln Center in New York City in the production English with an Accent. She works as a performance entertainer in the Tri-State Area and will soon receive her certification as a Pilates teacher. June 2023 saw Ñrla join MOMIX.
She was an amazing presence both on and off the dance floor, exuding an incredibly alluring hunger for life. She has a wonderful capacity to brighten up every place she entered, and her sincerity and ability to be true to herself resonated with everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy as an artist and a person will be cherished because of her extraordinary talent, which has left a lasting imprint.

We’re devastated to hear of the loss of Orla Baxendale – an extremely talented dancer and absolutely lovely young woman. Our thoughts and love are with Orla’s family and friends at this time.
We had the pleasure of teaching at Chantry several years ago and we’re very grateful to have been a small part of her dance journey. No doubt Orla has touched many people’s lives through her wonderful dancing as well as her beautiful spirit.
