Opal Wylie Death – Opal Wylie, a Grand Island High School senior has passed away from the injuries sustained in a fatal vehicle accident on Thursday, October 26. She was 17 years old. Wylie was injured as a result of the crash and was transported by an ambulance to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Other details into the crash has not been officially reported by the authorities. The police are still investigating.

A fatal two-vehicle  accident happened on Highway 30 east of Grand Island on Thursday morning. The crash killed an 81-year-old Roberta Tipton of Grand Island and injured two others. Tipton was riding as a passenger in a Dodge Ram pickup that was being driven by a Grand Island girl who was 17 years old.

According to the sheriff’s office, the teenager was at the stop sign on Capital Avenue trying to turn into Highway 30 when she was involved in a collision with a Peterbilt semi driven by a guy from Marquette who was 71 years old. Both the adolescent driver and the semi driver were injured in the collision and were transported to CHI Health St. Francis in separate ambulances. Tipton was also sent to the hospital, but she did not survive her stay there.

According to the sheriff’s office, the woman who was murdered was fastened in her seat belt at the time of the crash. The investigation into what caused the crash is still ongoing.
