Nick Lowden Death – The SANFL Football community is mourning the death of a 2020/21 premiership player who passed away tragically. 22-year-old Nick Lowden who made his debut at the Norwood Oval in 2022 has unexpectedly died. Norwood Football Club announced that the player was pronounced dead early Friday. According to reports, Nick passed away from an apparent suicide after a long battle with depression. This cause of death has not been backed up by the club.

Nick, aged 23, was a 2022 Premiership player for Norwood, having been recruited from Casey Demons in the VFL in late 2021. The midfielder’s valuable contribution to Norwood Football Club and the SANFL men’s League in his short time playing in South Australia will always be remembered.

The loss of premiership player and current team member Nicholas Lowden has left the Norwood Football Club in mourning. Over two years (2022 and 2023), Nick appeared in 22 League games for the team. He used to be a member of the Casey Demons, a Victoria team.
The entire Norwood Football Club family, including the players, coaches, and fans, is heartbroken by the news of his passing. Nick, a strong player all over the field, made an immediate impression on the game, especially on the other team.
In Round 8 of 2022, he debuted for the League at Norwood Oval. Lowds’s contributions to the 2022 SANFL Grand Final victory were among his most notable and enduring. Nick had a strong start to the year, but a calf injury in Round 9 ended his season. Nick will be remembered by his Norwood Football Club teammates, coaches, volunteers, and administrative staff. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends at this time of loss.
