Nathan Morehead Death – Nathan Morehead of Milan, Missouri passed away following a motor vehicle accident on Highway 54, in Bourbon County, Kansas on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. The fatal crash left two others injured. The accident took place about 6:45 in the evening at the mile marker 359, which is located close to the intersection of Highway 54 and K3.

According to the Kansas State Highway Patrol, Rebecca L. Shinn, 75, of Uniontown, Kansas, was operating a 2019 Toyota Rav4 while going westbound on Highway 54. Shinn was traveling alone. At the same time, Heath A. Baker, 35, from Nevada, Missouri, was operating a 2016 Jeep Wrangler that was moving in the opposite direction, toward the east. The preliminary investigation found that Shinn failed to yield when trying a left turn onto K3 Highway, which led to the Wrangler colliding with the Rav4. This was the cause of the accident.

Shinn was taken by ambulance to the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas, after sustaining some relatively minor injuries. Shinn was apparently wearing her seat belt at the time of the event, however Baker, who was not using a seat belt at the time of the incident, had serious injuries and needed to be evacuated to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment.

Morehead was a passenger in Baker’s vehicle. Morehead was not wearing a seat belt as the incident occurred. Both vehicles incurred damage, and A1 Towing transported them to a tow yard after the removal.
