Mother Charged After Altercation with Police Officer at Bibb County High School

U.S — The video of a Thursday afternoon incident between a lady and a police officer in the Bibb County High School parking lot led to six charges being filed against her.
A woman and a cop were caught on camera fighting, and the footage has now gone viral. Centreville police officer Michael Shirley may be seen on film both punching and being punched by Latrivia Lashae Crews. Shirley then drags Crews to the ground and repeatedly strikes her in the face and torso. What led up to the actual punching is unclear from the footage.
Crews now faces charges of second-degree assault, criminal mischief, disorderly behaviour, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest. The Centreville Police Department was the arresting agency, according to the charges. In addition to Centreville police, officers from neighbouring Brent arrived to lend a hand. Crews’s condition and a mugshot were not immediately made available. It looked like the woman was punched in the face several times in the clip. There has been no word from police departments about whether or not any cops were hurt.
A spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation confirmed that they have been asked to assist with the investigation and that one officer has been placed on administrative leave as a result of the incident. Oakley said the DA had suggested the officer be placed on administrative leave.
Centreville Police Chief Rodney Smith refused to say whether or not the officer in the video had been disciplined, what charges had been filed against Officer Crews, or whether or not an independent agency had been asked to look into the matter. The family requested impartial advice when we spoke with them, therefore we’ll be forwarding all the evidence we have to an outside resource. “From there, we’ll see what happens,” Smith said.
