Mike Mathis Death – A longtime Rodeo announcer tragically passed away Wednesday. Mike Mathis was the voice of the Dixie National Rodeo for over twenty-five years. Mike Mathis died suddenly after a medical incident this morning, according to the rodeo community. The beloved cowboy was a well-known community member whom everyone loved.
“With great sadness, I learned this morning my good friend, the one and only Mike Mathis, passed away and went to be with the Lord,” Commissioner Andy Gipson wrote announcing the tragic incident. Multiple community members have taken to their social media pages to share tributes to his memory.
“Wow, the world lost one of the greatest rodeo announcers today, Rest In peace Mike Mathis!!! A one-of-a-kind voice rang out in every town and the city he was working. He will be missed down here in Lafayette LA. He was a great friend. Prayers to Mrs Shan and the family. Long Live Cowboys.”
