Mike Gifford Mechanicsville, VA died after a car accident on I-64

Mike Gifford Death – Mike Gifford of Mechanicsville, passed away unexpectedly following a single-vehicle accident Friday evening on Interstate 64  at the Route 199/Humelsine Parkway exit in York County. He was 48 years old. The state police reported that they responded to a crash involving a single car on the eastbound side of Interstate 64 near the 242A exit on the evening of October 20 at approximately 6:36 p.m.

Initial investigations by the police have revealed that John Michael Gifford, who was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer and was the only person in the car, was going too fast for the conditions, lost control of the vehicle, veered off the roadway, and crashed into a tree head-on. This is according to the police.

Mike Gifford was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the authorities, alcohol is not deemed to be a contributing factor in this accident, and he was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision. Virginia State Police are investigating.
