Mikayla McCarvel Death – Shakopee High School Girls Player Mikayla McCarvel has sadly passed away. She died at the age of 18 on Tuesday 16th January 2024 after a tragic car accident that took place on December 26, 2023. She was pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. She was pronounced dead by her family on CaringBridge saying “Our hearts are broken to share that Mikayla passed away this evening surrounded by her family. While she put up a tremendous fight, her injuries were too significant to overcome”.

How did the accident happen?

She experienced a collision at the junction of County Road 21 and Tintaocanku slightly past 8 p.m. on December 26, as verified by the Shakopee Police Department. The Minnesota State Patrol is currently in the process of reconstructing the incident. As a result of the crash, McCarvel sustained a brain injury and a few fractures. Mikayla was born in Shakopee on January 14, 2006, the daughter of Dan and Hillary McCarvel, and sister of Alex McCarvel.

Mikayla McCarvel was an incredible young woman, and had many close friends made through the Shakopee Bands. She was a talented player, consummate band mate, and had a near constant smile on her face.

McCarvel enthusiastically took part in a range of school pursuits, such as showcasing her skills on the hockey rink as a player for Shakopee High School and contributing her talents to the girls’ soccer team. Beyond sports, she also immersed herself in the school band, showcasing her musical abilities. Furthermore, McCarvel was involved with 4-H Arts In, demonstrating her commitment to a diverse array of extracurricular activities.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 4-8 PM, at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Ave. East, Shakopee. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024, (time pending) at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16311 Duluth Ave SE, Prior Lake, MN.
