Michael Heistand Death – On Wednesday afternoon, a man was found dead after being stuck inside of a grain bin. At around 4:10 p.m., the Crawford County Communications Centre received information that someone was stuck inside a grain bin located at 1546 O’Banion Road. This was reported by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
After receiving the report, multiple agencies responded, and when they arrived, they discovered that Michael Tom Heistand, age 41, from Dunlap, Iowa, had been found dead at the location.

A guy from Dunlap, Iowa sustained life-threatening injuries on Wednesday afternoon while coyote hunting in Monona County, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Clark Melby, 88 years old, was getting out of his truck in the middle of a corn field that had recently been harvested when he tripped and the high-powered rifle he was carrying discharged into his upper torso. Melby died at the scene.
The bullet went completely through him without causing any damage to any of his essential organs. Even though Melby was by herself at the time of the accident, she was able to get in touch with a nearby resident. He was transported by helicopter to the Nebraska Medical Centre, where he underwent surgery after arriving there.
According to DNR, Melby has a good chance of making it. The inquiry into the incident is still ongoing.
