Mario Martinez Death – A man has died following a tragic incident that happened last night. The victim has been identified as Mario Martinez, a longtime friend and lobbyist from Austin who developed strong relationships with his clients. According to reports, Mario Martinez passed away suddenly while attending an annual JPCA conference in San Antonio, Texas. Mario served as a legislative consultant for many years and was a devoted advocate for JP’s & Constables across the State.

He always had our back and always kept our best interests first, and for that, I will forever be grateful to him. Mario Martinez was one of the finest lobbyists that walked the halls of the State Capitol and he will be missed. He was more than a friend to “me and my wife Jennifer.” He was family. Thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Just a sad note to post on the news of the passing of Mario Martinez last night. Mario was a longtime friend and lobbyist from Austin who developed strong relationships with his clients and knew so much about the inner workings of our Texas Capitol. Starting at the capitol as a staffer, he later started his own lobby firm in 1999 and is among the best known and respected lobbyists in Austin. This tragic loss is most felt by his wife and children, with whom our heartfelt thoughts and prayers lie today. He will be greatly missed by many.

Mario Martinez: Bio

Mario Martinez has accumulated almost 35 years of experience in Texas politics and government. He started his career as a legislative aide to former State Representative Tom Uher in 1975 and spent nearly a decade working with him, ultimately becoming Chief of Staff. Martinez then transitioned to the role of Governmental Affairs Director for the Texas State Troopers Association, where he further developed his legislative skills and represented the association’s interests for over ten years.

In 1996, Martinez and his wife, Louann, founded Martinez & Associates, a consultancy firm specializing in governmental relations. Through this venture, he cultivated strong relationships with influential lawmakers and policymakers, which eventually led to independent consulting work. Mario has successfully represented major industries in contentious and challenging issues debated by the Texas Legislature over the past decade.

Among his current clients is the city of Brownsville, for whom he handles various municipal matters such as annexation, property taxes, transportation, public safety, and water development. He also represents the Port of Brownsville, the Justice of the Peace and Constables Association, and the Texas Municipal Police Association.

Mario Martinez is highly regarded by both legislators and fellow lobbyists due to his extensive experience and principled approach to conducting business on behalf of his clients. In addition to his prominent clients, he also represents the Texas Independent Automobile Dealers Association, Texas Consumer Lenders, the law firm Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson, LLP, and various other interests. Mario graduated from Southwest Texas State University.
