Louisiana multi-vehicle crash
The earliest estimates indicate that there were at least 158 vehicles involved in the crash that occurred this morning. This total accounts for traffic moving in both the north and the south directions. There have been at least seven (7) fatalities. More than 25 people, some with life-threatening injuries and others with less serious wounds, were sent to nearby hospitals after the accident that was as a result of serious fog earlier today. A significant portion of the victims decided to seek medical assistance on their own.
Clouds that descend to the earth are known as fog. Both light and dense fog make it difficult to see clearly. Fog can be so dense that it obscures the road and other vehicles, making it dangerous to drive in. The names of the victims who passed away in the crash is yet to be released to the public by the officials.
In a short amount of time following the initial incident, a fire broke out in an area that was close by to the accident scene. Because the tank and trailer of one of the tanker trucks was damaged, hazardous liquid is currently being removed from that vehicle. It is imperative that the truck be relocated so that first responders can obtain a better view of the vehicles that are in the area.
It is possible that other bodies will be discovered at a later time. Please call the Louisiana State Police Troop B at (504) 471-2775 if you or a loved one has been reported missing and you believe they may have been in the area this morning.
