Kyran Planalp Death – Kyran Planalp, a well-known long-distance runner on the Track & Field Team has died. His smile and laughter lit up a room when he entered it and he never knew a stranger. Kyran Planalp, a resident of Terre Haute, Indiana was announced dead on Saturday, December 23, 2023. He passed away at the young age of 22.

There was no cause of death reported for Kyran Planalp at the time of this publication. However, his family has confirmed the heartbreaking news. Kyran loved to be around his family and will be missed by many.

Kyran Planalp’s early life

He was born in Anderson, IN, on September 24, 2001, to Jerrico Planalp and Tiana O’Brien. Kyran’s early years unfolded in Elwood until his family underwent a move to Frankton. There, he enrolled in Frankton High School and ultimately graduated with the class of 2020.

His high school years were marked by considerable activity. Kyran, who had roots in Orestes Christian Church from his childhood, maintained his connection with the community. In his more recent endeavors, he contributed his efforts to a road construction crew affiliated with Wright of Indiana.


Kyran embraced a lifelong passion for running, commencing his cross-country journey in second grade, inspired by his older brother. His achievements included reaching Semi-State in both 2019 and 2020, marking exhilarating milestones in his running career. Beyond running, Kyran engaged in wrestling from the age of 5, earning numerous championships with FHS Wrestling.

Not only a formidable runner, Kyran shone as a star long-distance athlete on the Track & Field Team. Coach Andre Lo played a pivotal role in shaping Kyran’s athletic trajectory, instilling values of faith, commitment, and perseverance. Outside the realm of sports, Kyran found solace in winding down activities, such as playing video games, listening to music, camping with his parents, and fishing.

Kyran is survived by his mother, Tiana O’Brien of Anderson; parents, Jerrico & Loranda Planalp of Frankton; brothers, Keegan (Fiancé Shelby Bronner) Planalp of Anderson, Evan Trissel of Kokomo; sister, Mykia Trissel of Frankton; Nephew, Layton Planalp; grandparents, Rinde & Patti O’Brien of Frankton, Gary & Leta Cunningham of Anderson, Trish Ruben of Fishers; great-grandmother, Donna Planalp of Marion, several aunts and uncles; several cousins; and special friend Jaelyn Yeryar.

Preceded in death by

Kyran was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rick Planalp.

Kyran Planalp obituary

Visitation for Kyran will be Saturday, December 30, 2023, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, at Harper and Dunnichay Funeral Home, 305 Sigler Street, Frankton, Indiana.

The funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Harper and Dunnichay Funeral Home, Frankton, Indiana with Rev. Courtley Granger officiating. Cremation will follow.
