Kyle Mcneil Death – A man from Waterloo has died following a fatal car accident that happened in Winneshiek County on Wednesday. The victim has been identified as Kyle Mcneil. According to reports, Kyle Mcneil passed away from injuries sustained in the automobile accident. He was 33 years old at the time of his passing.
How did the crash happen?
On Wednesday night, the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office swiftly attended to a situation at Goddard Creek, located southwest of Fort Atkinson on Highway 24. Upon reaching the scene, they uncovered a distressing sight: a semi-truck had veered off a bridge, subsequently flipping over and becoming engulfed in flames.
Dedicated emergency responders remained present for an extended period, working tirelessly to clear the debris. Their efforts are set to persist into Thursday. The incident is currently being scrutinized by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office as part of an ongoing investigation.
Funeral service
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2023, at Grace Baptist Church in Waterloo with Rev. Wes Kennedy presiding. Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton have been entrusted with Kyle’s arrangements.

Late on Saturday night, a tragic car accident near Spillville resulted in the loss of two lives and injuries to three others. The incident occurred when Christopher Mirich, aged 42, was driving his Toyota Highlander northbound on 265th Avenue.
Allegedly disregarding a stop sign at the intersection with County Highway B16, Mirich’s vehicle collided with a Chevrolet Malibu driven by 49-year-old Neil Heins, as detailed in an Iowa State Patrol crash report.
Regrettably, the collision claimed the lives of a passenger in one of the vehicles, Laura Lubka, aged 54, and Christopher Mirich at the crash scene. The injured individuals, Scott Uhlenhake (36), Taylor Gerleman (28), and Neil Heins, were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
It is noted in the crash report that none of the individuals involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. The Iowa State Patrol has initiated an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
