Kenneth Kidd Death – A 66-year-old man died and three others were injured after an avalanche at Palisades Tahoe Resort. The deceased victim has been identified as Kenneth Kidd. According to reports, Kenneth Kidd passed away on Wednesday following the tragic incident. He had homes in both the Point Reyes and Truckee areas.
The avalanche occurred around 9:30 a.m., prompting the closure of Palisades Tahoe just 30 minutes after its Wednesday opening. The injuries sustained by the other three victims are reported to be non-life-threatening.
The specific location of the incident had recently been opened for the first time in the current season, as indicated by Michael Gross, the vice president of mountain operations at the resort. The region was facing the impacts of a potent winter storm, resulting in substantial snowfall.
The debris field from the avalanche spans approximately 150 feet in width, 450 feet in length, and reaches a depth of 10 feet. Search and rescue efforts were facilitated by the deployment of dogs.
It is noteworthy that this avalanche took place near Alpine Meadows ski resort, which has witnessed two fatal avalanches in its history. In January 2020, one person lost their life in an avalanche, while a tragic incident in 1982 claimed the lives of seven individuals.
The recurring nature of such incidents highlights the inherent risks associated with the mountainous terrain and the need for ongoing vigilance and safety measures, especially during adverse weather conditions.
Kenneth Kidd obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by the family.
