Justine Covault Death – Justine Covault, a renowned Singer, songwriter, guitarist and record label owner from Boston, Massachusetts has passed away suddenly. Justine Covault, a resident of Arlington, Massachusetts died this morning, Friday, the 9th of June 2023. She was announced dead through social media publications. Justine was a mentor and luminary. There was no cause of death reported for Justine Covault at the time of this publication. Thoughts and prayers are with her friends, family and the entertainment industry during this difficult time.

Covault’s daughter, Haley, posted a notice to Facebook on Friday afternoon (June 9).

It is with my deepest regrets that I announce the passing of my mother, Justine Covault yesterday morning. At this time there are no immediate plans for a service but please know there will be a memorial concert TBA. Sending much love to all of her friends and family. Love, Haley

Who was Justine Covault?

Covault, a native of Detroit who now resides in Arlington, was an unwavering supporter of the Boston music scene. She played an active role in the industry as both a musician in bands such as Justine & The Unclean and Justine’s Black Threads and as a show promoter. Covault also founded and owned Red On Red Records, which quickly became a globally-recognized indie label specializing in power-pop, punk, alt-rock, indie rock, and Americana.

In just a few short years, it established itself as a major outlet for music from New England. Since 2020, Red On Red Records has released music from numerous talented artists, including The Chelsea Curve, Linnea’s Garden, Andrea Gillis, Girl with a Hawk, Robin Lane, Cold Expectations, and, more recently, Rose Guerin. The label has also released music from San Francisco’s The Morning Line and Sweden’s Stupidity.

Covault was a true powerhouse, dedicating herself to Red On Red Records and her band, Justine & The Unclean. She was a beautiful person both inside and out, and valued supporting and providing opportunities for many Boston-based bands to share their music on CDs, digital albums, and more. Justine had around 120 posts, 779 followers and 439 following on her Instagram account under the username @justineandtheunclean.

The family will release an obituary and funeral arrangements for Justine Covault.
