John Wroughton Brown Death: The Agoda (Online Travel Platform) communities are mourning the tragic death of their Chairman and former CEO who passed away last week. John Brown died after a long battle with depression and mental anxities. According to reports, the dedicated boss and travel lover was found dead from a self-inflicted injury.

John Brown who was the CEO of the online travel platform Agoda was pronounced dead from what law enforcement agencies are now investigating as suicide. John became the Chairman at Agoda in 2022, eleven years after working as the the Chief Executive Officer. He was replaced by Omri Morgenshtern.

Brown began his tenure at Agoda in 2010 as vice president before advancing to the positions of CPO and COO before being appointed CEO in 2018. The company is headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand. In 1992, John made Thailand his first country of residence beyond the United States. According to John, at a Bangkok gathering, he subsequently met Rob Rosenstein, co-founder and former CEO of Agoda. Rob invited John to join him at his startup.

Following the incident, Hoffman wrote;

Who Was John Brown?

John Brown served as the Chief Executive Officer of Agoda, a subsidiary of Booking Holdings with its main office located in Singapore. Since his inception in 2010, John has held various leadership positions at Agoda, including product, marketing, and branding, customer experience, partner services, and market development. Under his direction, the company has experienced consistent global expansion.

Prior to this, John held the position of Principal at Boston Consulting Group, with offices located in both Boston and Bangkok. Additionally, he advised the Afghan Minister of Commerce and Industry in Kabul on economic matters and served as an enterprise development advisor for the Peace Corps for three years. John graduated from Yale with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, cum laude, and an MBA in Finance from the esteemed Wharton School.
