Jodi Ahles Death – Jodi Lynn Ahles, a resident of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota passed away on Monday, July 31st, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center-Fargo with her beloved family beside her, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 50 years old at the time of her death. On Tuesday, August 8th, the Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church in a social media publication asked the public to continue to pray for the family and friends of Jodi Ahles.
Who was Jodi Ahles?
Jodi Lynn (Gomall) Ahles came into the world in Detroit Lakes on May 5, 1973, born to Bill and Kathy (Benson) Gomall. In the company of her cherished siblings Karen Groth and Margo Jensen, all residing in Ogema, she formed strong bonds. Growing up in Waubun, her family’s spiritual connection was fostered at Trinity Lutheran Church. Jodi’s educational journey led her through Waubun’s schools, culminating in her graduation in 1991.
Her pursuit of knowledge continued at Bemidji State University, where she earned an AAS in Business Management in 1993. In 1994, Jodi joined her life with Paul Ahles in marriage, and the arrival of their daughter Kaitlyn in 2002 filled their home with joy. Jodi’s professional path was marked by her presence in various financial institutions.

Commencing at First National Bank, she proceeded to contribute her skills to Wells Fargo and Bell Bank, ultimately finding her place at Dougherty & Co., now known as Colliers. Jodi’s dedication to her community was unwavering. Her service extended to the St. Mary’s Hospital Advisory Board, where she played an active role. In the Kiwanis organization, she assumed the role of President, leaving a positive impact.
Likewise, her involvement with the Detroit Lakes Chamber of Commerce further highlighted her commitment. Jodi held a special place in her heart for organizations like Special Olympics and Day of Caring, where she lent her support over numerous years. Recent times saw her family embracing the spiritual embrace of St. Peter’s-Audubon.
Jodi Ahles’ obituary and funeral arrangements
Evening visitation for Jodi was held on Monday, August 7, 2023, from 5 to 7 PM at DAVID-DONEHOWER FUNERAL HOME. Visitation continues Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 10 to 10:45 AM at ST. PETER’S LUTHERAN CHURCH (19747 Co Hwy 6, Audubon, MN 56511). A funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Michael Schendel officiating. The final rest will be in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery, Waubun. For those wishing, memorials in Jodi’s memory may be made to Special Olympics or to the Detroit Lakes Kiwanis Club.
