Jennifer Wingate Death – Jennifer Brooke Wingate, a resident of Lexington, South Carolina, and a Saluda County High School band director and girl’s soccer coach has tragically passed away. She was 34 years old at the time of her death. “Our Saluda High School and Saluda County Schools community are saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of Saluda High School Band Director and Girls Soccer Coach, Jennifer Wingate.” The school said in a statement released.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified Jennifer Brooke Wingate, 34, of Columbia as the victim of Irmo deadly crash. Chelsie B. Pittman, 31, is charged with felony driving under the influence, resulting in death; habitual offender, causing death when license has been canceled, suspended, or revoked; and driving under suspension, third or subsequent offense, according to reports. The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on the 1300 block of Lake Murray Boulevard.
According to Fisher, Wingate was traveling westbound on Lake Murray Boulevard when she was hit from behind by another car. Wingate was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, Fisher added. The Irmo Police Department and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident. The school says district school counselors and local clergy will be available at the school to assist students and staff.
Who was Jennifer Wingate?
Jennifer Wingate “Jen” was a resident of Lexington, South Carolina, and was a graduate of Newberry College. She was a young woman full of talent, humor, love, and compassion. Her 35th birthday was coming up in less than a month. She enjoyed leading the girls’ soccer team and teaching music. She had a great deal of affection for the students and faculty at her Saluda middle and high schools. According to a release from the family, no plans have been made as of yet, and they kindly request privacy as they deal with the tragic loss of a daughter, sister, and friend.
