Jeffrey Scott West Blount County Tennessee Death: Watch video of 68-year-old father shooting son, then self

Jeffrey Scott West Shooting Investigations: According to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, one man has died from what appears to be a suicide while another is in the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the right ear. At about 8:15 p.m. on Friday, this occurred at a residence on Quarry Hollow Rd. in Friendsville. Jeffrey Scott West, 68, was named by authorities as the victim.

The authorities at the spot declared him dead. The Knox County Regional Forensic Center will perform the autopsy, according to BCSO. University of Tennessee Medical Center was the destination of 24-year-old Kyle W. Spitze, the wounded guy. He will likely recover from his injuries.

Before 8:15 p.m. on Friday, detectives were dispatched to a residence on Quarry Hollow Road in response to a shooting complaint, according to BCSO. When they got there, Spitze and another resident were waiting outside. Officers treated Spitze for injuries, and he informed them that he and the dead man, West, had been fighting in the house. Spitze was wounded when West brandished a revolver; the gunshot just missed Spitze’s ear. Spitze and the other individual sprinted outdoors before dialing 911.

Teams from the Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiations and Special Weapons and Tactics units showed up. They started negotiating with West in the hopes that he would surrender. After they failed, deputies brought a K-9 into the house just before 11 p.m., where they found West dead from what seemed to be a gunshot wound that he had inflicted on himself. The cops were unharmed.
