Football coach at Moorhead High School and business teacher at the school’s Career Academy, Jason Thielges,  died tragically, leaving hundreds of student athletes and coaches on both sides of the river shocked by his sudden death.

Teaching and Coaching Career

Before his teaching and coaching career started in in Moorhead, Thielges served as the head football coach at Davies High School when their program first began in the year 2009. They even won a state championship in 2014. His bosom friend and coaching colleague Wayne Werremeyer took over when he stepped down from that role in 2019.  Werremeyer said no one worked harder on the field than Jason Thielges.

Jason had very high expectations for the many lives he mentored throughout his athletic career and it was only exceeded by the high expectations he set for himself. “Those high standards didn’t turn students off. It only made them respect him more.” a source remarked in a recent statement.
