In West Philadelphia, authorities say a 33-year-old mother of two was shot and killed on Thursday night in what appears to have been a murder-suicide. Chief Inspector Scott Small stated that officers came on the 5400 block of Master Street just before 5 p.m. to inquire about the welfare of a man and woman who had not been seen since 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

After knocking on the man’s front door and getting no answer, the cops entered the house and saw a woman sitting in the passenger seat of his Chevrolet Camaro, according to Small. She had a gunshot wound to her head and was dead. Given their suspicion that the suspect might be inside the house, the police set up a roadblock. According to Small, SWAT personnel were granted entry to the house after homicide detectives secured a search warrant.

According to Small, the 35-year-old male was discovered by police in a second-floor bedroom, laying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his head. The unidentified mother had two children, ages six and ten, but Small claimed that when police arrived, the kids were in the safe custody of relatives. The younger child’s parents were the deceased couple, according to Small.
