Jake Hill Death – After police were called to check on the occupants of a house in a small Colorado town, a man and two children were discovered dead there on Saturday. In the 21000 block of 4th Avenue, Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies performed a welfare check. According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the deputies “made entry” into the residence. It’s unclear from the news release if the deputies forced their way inside or were let in by someone else.
When the deputies entered, they discovered two children, ages three and seven, and 45-year-old James “Jake” Hill dead. The sheriff’s office claims that the occurrence appears to be a murder-suicide based on preliminary inquiry. The community is not believed to be in danger, and no suspects are reported to be at large. According to online court documents, Hill was involved in a child custody lawsuit that a couple in Delta County had filed in October of last year.
