Ingrid Willemsen Death – Owner of SUNRIPE Freshmarket Ingrid Willemsen of Sarnia, Ontario has sadly passed away. She died on 23rd October 2023 at the age of 58 leaving family and friends devastated. She was confirmed dead through a Facebook post that reads “Condolences to Will and the Willemsen Family. Ingrid was a dynamic force of nature who inspired anyone who had the pleasure of her Company”. The actual cause of Ingrid Willemsen’s death has not been revealed.

Born on July 4th, 1965, Ingrid Willemsen attended Marion L Steele High School between 1980 – 1983 where she obtained her High School diploma. She proceeded to study at The Ohio State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science, School of Business in 1987. She spent her early years in Amherst, Ohio, where her family owned and managed a farm market. Her connection to the land and the market laid the foundation for her future endeavors. In 1990, after meeting her husband Will at a farm market conference in Dayton, Ohio, she embarked on a new chapter of her life.
Together, Ingrid and Will transformed their shared vision into reality, nurturing their business, Sunripe, into a triad of thriving stores that have since become integral parts of their communities. In her role, Ingrid channeled her culinary passion into the creation of numerous recipes for Sunripe, delighting customers with an array of delectable offerings.

Beyond the realm of commerce, Ingrid’s influence extended to the lives of many individuals she encountered. Her guidance extended not only to her employees but also to over 20 European exchange students, leaving an indelible mark on their professional and personal lives. Ingrid’s straightforward management style and sincere approach propelled many of her team members onto prosperous career trajectories. Ingrid is survived by her three children, Kysa, Ryall and Mia and her husband. She is also remembered by her mother, Gunver and her step dad Floyd, and her siblings Holger, Kirsten and Hjordis. She was predeceased by her father Bill.

Family and friends will be received to celebrate Ingrid’s life at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, 68 Union St, Forest, on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Christopher’s Parish, Forest, and Bayshore Home Care Sarnia in her name.
