Howdy Bagel Tacoma; Jake Carter New Orleans died on Jan. 5 | GoFundMe

Jacob Carter Death – Jacob “Jake” Carter, the co-owner of Howdy Bagel Tacoma has passed away on Friday, January 5, he was said to have died as a result of an act of violence that happened while he was on a vacation in New Orleans with his husband Daniel. According to Howdy Bagel; Jake was one of the brightest spots in the lives of everyone he loved. This loss is immeasurable for our community. In an effort to support Daniel and the whole Howdy crew, we are asking that you consider supporting Howdy in two ways. First, take care of one another. Showing up with care for one another as we grieve is a way we can honor the love that Jacob put into this world. In this difficult time, we ask that you do not reach out to Daniel or the family but find comfort with one another. If you need someone to talk to, please reach out to the Crisis Connections hotline at 866-427-4747.

According to Carly Mischelle; Jake & Daniel opened Howdy Bagel last year and it has been a blessing for our city and something the queer community really needed. They have changed what it means to work in the service industry and have been a leading example in how you treat both your staff and customers.

Mischelle said she will give 20% of everything she make this next week at Denim & Diamonds will be donated to the Howdy Bagel Gofundme that was put in place to support both Daniel and the staff, allowing them to take the proper time to grieve.

Stevi Hamill created a GoFundMe page to help cover the cost of shop rent and other operating expenses, as well as employee wages. Second, to give Daniel space to grieve without having to worry about the logistics of running a business, we ask that you consider donating to help cover some of the shop costs and employee wages in this difficult season. The shop will be closed temporarily as we all navigate this time of grief. Daniel and Jacob have been continually blown away and grateful for the ways that this community has rallied together to support Howdy Bagel. This is a difficult season, you will all continue to show up with love and support.
