Hermen Geertsema Death – Hermen Geertsema, an Equine Veterinarian in Langley, British Columbia has tragically passed away. Dr. Hermen P. Geertsema, DVM was announced dead yesterday. He died from a heart attack. Hermen likes to joke that he’s a part-time truck driver with all the driving he does. Thoughts and prayers are with his family and community during this difficult time.
“Sad news, I have been informed Hermen Geertsema passed away from a heart attack yesterday. I haven’t spoken with Hermen since school, but I knew he was doing equine work in the Lower Mainland. I believe his practice was just a few klicks down the road in Aldergrove.”
About Hermen Geertsema
Dr. Hermen Geertsema has over 14 years of horse healthcare experience and was a preferred veterinarian at Jaquima Ranch. Hermen earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the Ontario Agricultural College in 1989 before attending America’s oldest veterinary college, the Ontario Veterinary College.
He also graduated from the Canadian School of Horseshoeing and has extensive knowledge and a keen interest in foot and hoof-related issues. Hermen pays special attention to preventative health care and advises all horses in his care on nutrition, vaccinations, and deworming.
When it comes to equine dentistry, he balances general upkeep with the necessary floating to maximize the life of the horses’ teeth. Hermen’s extensive practical experience includes colic-related emergencies, lameness and hoof-related problems, arthritis, melanoma, ultrasound, video endoscopy, on-site surgery, and more.
He was on call 24 hours a day and could be counted on to treat all horse ailments and emergencies quickly and effectively. Hermen, who is always on the cutting edge of technology, has recently added a portable digital X-ray system to his mobile lab, which provides instant on-site results of incredible quality.
