According to the report that was filed by the Iowa State Patrol following the collision, it took place on Friday at 6:44 p.m. in the 32000 block of 570th Avenue in Cambridge, Iowa.

The driver of the ATV, identified in the report as Spencer Pote, 29, from Maxwell, was reportedly going southbound on 570th Avenue when the collision occurred. Chase Kratz, 17, from Ames was operating the Ford F-150, and he was heading in a northerly direction.

According to the report, a dust cloud left behind by a prior vehicle going on the road reduced visibility, which resulted in the drivers colliding with each other head-on. Kratz and a passenger both sustained injuries and were sent to the nearby hospitals for treatment. Pote succumbed to his wounds and passed away as a result.

The Iowa State Patrol is looking into the collision as part of their investigation.
