Glenville Fire: Driver severely burnt following propane tanks explosion at Maple Avenue Bridge in Glenville, NY

Saratoga County Explosion Investigations – A tractor-trailer hauling propane tanks collided with Glenville’s Maple Avenue Bridge, producing a massive explosion and wounding the driver. There have been reports of trees catching fire. According to Town Supervisor Chris Koetzle, a shockwave ripped through residences near the explosion. According to Koetzle, the driver suffers third-degree burns and is being transferred to the Westchester Medical Center burn unit.

Firefighters are on the way to the scene. National Grid customers in Scotia, Glenville, and Clifton Park are temporarily without electricity. The Glenville Police Department is in charge. Several fire departments from Schenectady and Saratoga counties are on the scene. A helicopter has been ordered by the command for a burn sufferer. The command has requested that the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control send foam trailers to the location.
