The latest information was provided by the Texas A&M Forest Service several hours after a SkyEye flight over the so-called Snowhill Fire in the vicinity of FM-946 and Harrell Road, where firefighting aircraft had been deployed. According to a tweet published by the Forest Service, “Forward progression has been stopped and fire activity has diminished.”
The forest service stated in its evening update that two of its firefighters had received burn injuries as the behavior of the fire worsened at approximately 5 p.m. and were brought to the hospital as a result of their injuries.
The details of their circumstances were not immediately made public. The forest service did not provide any information regarding the origin of the fire or when it was initially reported. Along with ground workers from various local fire departments, ground crews from the United States Forest Service were also summoned to the region.
There was a moment in time when crews thought that approximately eight homes in the vicinity were under danger as a result of the severely dry weather. According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, San Jacinto County is one of the state’s 164 counties that is now subject to a burn restriction.
