Edgar Lopez Death: 34-year-old man died in Covington shooting after a fight

Edgar Lopez Death – A 34-year-old man who passed away on Tuesday following a fight on a Covington street has been identified. Covington Police Department says Edgar Lopez died after a fight escalated into shots fired Tuesday evening. The deadly incident happened in the 1200 block of Russell Street. One person was transported to the hospital with injuries.

Covington Police are investigating a shooting that led to the death of one person in the 1200 block of Russell Street. At around 6:14 pm officers were called to a report of a person shot. They located one person injured and another person who had been shot dead. The injured victim was taken to UC Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds.

The victim of the shooting is identified as Edgar Lopez, 34, of Covington. His family has our condolences as they grieve this terrible loss. We are still working to identify and locate Lopez’s shooter. We are asking the public to come forward with any information about who he is or what happened. According to law enforcement authorities, the incident occurred just after 6 p.m. when two individuals engaged in a physical altercation on Russell Street. According to residents, there were reports of many gunshots being heard in the vicinity. As to law enforcement authorities, two individuals sustained gunshot wounds.

One individual succumbed to their injuries at the incident site, while the other was sent to a medical facility for further treatment. The motive for the altercation and the condition of the surviving victim remain undetermined according to the police. According to authorities, law enforcement is currently in pursuit of a black Honda vehicle that was implicated in the aforementioned occurrence. Individuals possessing any pertinent information regarding the shooting incident are kindly requested to promptly communicate with the law enforcement authorities.
