Ed Smith Death – Sarpy County Sheriff Employee and School Resource Officer at Gretna Public Schools Ed Smith has died. He passed away on Tuesday 24th October 2023 after battling with illness. He was announced dead through a Facebook post that says “We are saddened to announce the passing of active Deputy Ed Smith. Dep. Smith unexpectedly passed away today from suspected health complications”. The exact cause of his death has not been revealed.
Ed Smith Career
Smith devoted more than 25 years of his life to working alongside the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, where he held a variety of important jobs during the course of his career. The role of School Resource Officer at Gretna Public Schools was the one he held most recently and treasured the most. Prior to this, Dep. Smith was a devoted Deputy on the Road Patrol and an important founding member of the esteemed “Honey Badger” B-Shift. He also served as a founding member of the “Honey Badger” B-Shift.
Before becoming a Deputy with the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, Smith honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and as a Trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol, all of which demonstrate his dedication to public service. Dep. Smith was respected for his great storytelling talents and his unwavering willingness to assist anyone in need, both during and outside of his official duties. He was also known for his cheery manner and was well-known for his positive attitude.
