Dr. David Jones Death – Aroostook House of Comfort Medical Director Dr. David Jones of Presque Isle, Maine has sadly passed away. He died leaving family, friends and colleagues in shock and disbelief. He was announced dead on Monday 22nd October 2023 through a Facebook post that says “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unforeseen passing of Dr. David Jones, our esteemed Medical Director, dedicated Board member, and cherished friend”. The circumstances surrounding the cause of Dr. David Jones’ death has not been revealed.

Dr. David D. Jones, MD, FAAFP, has an illustrious history rooted in the medical field. A Boston native, he was raised in a family deeply involved in medicine. His academic journey began at Swarthmore College, where he laid the groundwork for his future career. Continuing his pursuit of medical excellence, he went on to attend the prestigious University of Vermont Medical School, where he honed his skills and knowledge. Diving further into his medical training, Dr. Jones underwent rigorous residency at the Maine Dartmouth Family Practice Residency in Augusta.

Armed with comprehensive experience and expertise, he embarked on his professional journey in 1981, commencing his practice in both Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine in the heart of Aroostook County. In 1982, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of Aroostook Family Practice in Presque Isle, marking a significant milestone in his career trajectory.

Dr. David Jones Career

Over the years, Dr. Jones extended his medical services to encompass a diverse range of practices. Not only did he continue to diligently serve in Emergency Medicine, but he also cultivated a substantial nursing home practice. As his patients and he traversed through the stages of life together, he seamlessly integrated Hospice Medicine into his repertoire, a natural progression given his empathetic approach and holistic understanding of patient care. In 2005, his dedication to the field of Hospice Medicine culminated in his appointment as the Hospice Physician for Visiting Nurses of Aroostook/EMHS (Northern Lighthouse Home Care and Hospice).

Even amidst these additional responsibilities, Dr. Jones continued his unwavering commitment to Family Medicine in Presque Isle and Emergency Medicine in Fort Kent, showcasing his enduring passion for multifaceted patient care. Parallel to his clinical pursuits, Dr. Jones contributed significantly to the medical community, serving as a valued member of the Board of Medicine for an impressive duration of eight years.
