Diane Kashin Toronto, Ontario Author and retired ECE professor has died

Diane Kashin Death – Diane Kashin, a well-known author, retired ECE professor, and a registered early childhood educator in the province of Ontario in Canada passed away on Monday, January 01, 2024. She was announced dead by her beloved husband through a social media publication that read “It’s with great sadness to share the passing of my wife Diane Kashin. I’ve lost the centre of my universe.” Diane passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Who was Diane Kashin?

Diane Kashin was a registered early childhood educator in the province of Ontario in Canada. She received a Bachelor of Honours Degree from York University, an Early Childhood Education Diploma from Seneca College and a Master of Education and Doctorate Degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Diane has taught early childhood education at both the degree and the diploma level.

Since retiring from teaching, Diane has been working as a consultant, and workshop/webinar presenter. She was the co-author of three ECE textbooks and currently writing a book for Redleaf Press on professional friendships in ECE. Diane writes a blog to support professional learning in early childhood education: Technology Rich Inquiry Based Research and loves to engage in continuous professional learning face to face and through social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

She was the past president of the Association for Early Childhood Educators of Ontario and the current coordinator of the York Region Nature Collaborative. Diane’s areas of interest include emergent curriculum, play-based learning, loose parts, the Reggio Emilia Approach, and Indigenous perspectives of early learning and outdoor play. She was a beloved wife to Lorne Kashin and a loving mother. She was a devoted daughter to Reeva and the late Gerald Lackman and sister to Ken.
