A meeting took place on Monday in a park in Englewood that was recently renamed after a young citizen of the area who was cruelly killed in the community. It is no longer possible for you to feel comfortable in the park because it has become a location where criminal activity has taken place, erasing any sense of security you may have had previously in that location. An staffer at Englewood Outreach named Marlon Hammond stated that it was “absolutely heartbreaking” that they had to observe a situation like this once more.

According to the Chicago police department, the body of Damien Green, 12, who had been shot to death the previous day was discovered on Monday after Damien’s death had occurred on Sunday. In the center of Lowe Street, close to the intersection with 67th Street, the lifeless body of Green was found lying there.

The victim’s great-grandmother testified that the young child’s final known actions included going to church and playing basketball. His family confirmed that Damien attended Benjamin Mays Academy in Englewood and that he was in the sixth grade there before his death. At the school for boys, Michael Tidmore is the one who oversees the Safe Passage program as the program manager. After each session of the program has concluded, the staff members of the program ensure that all of the children are driven home in a secure manner.

In addition, Tidmore was the primary mover and shaker behind the effort to rename the park in honor of Ryan Harris. The lifeless body of Harris, a little girl who had only turned 11 years old at the time, was discovered in a desolate part of Englewood in the year 1998. She had been the victim of both rape and murder. Another kid who lived in the neighborhood has passed away.
