Cuddy Cook Death – Cuddy Cook, beloved brother, son and resident of Birmingham, Alabama was injured after a train accident in Helena on Monday 26th June 2023. According to information released, the accident also left another injured. Both young individuals were swiftly transported to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham for medical care. Fortunately, a recent update from a close friend of the families reveals that although the two teens remain in a serious condition, their health has now stabilized.

How did the accident happen?

Alongside them, a Helena police officer also suffered injuries after a fall from a 30-foot rocky embankment during the rescue operation. Thankfully, the officer’s condition has improved, and he is expected to make a full recovery. Reports from Fire Chief Peter Valenti of the Helena fire department and the Helena police indicate that four teenagers from Hoover were walking on the trestle in the River Woods subdivision shortly before the train accident occurred on Monday, just after 2:30 p.m. Out of the four, two were hospitalized due to the incident, while the remaining two managed to narrowly escape with minor injuries.

An 18-year-old woman from Helena was involved in a single-vehicle accident that sadly proved fatal. The Hoover Police Department was alerted to the incident when a call came in to the Hoover 911 center at 11:30 p.m. The accident had taken place on Shelby County Road 13 near the intersection of Shelby County Road 52. Promptly responding to the call, police officers and medics from both Hoover and Helena rushed to the scene. Regrettably, the young woman was pronounced dead by Hoover medics at 11:44 p.m.

Following the accident, Hoover police traffic officers conducted an investigation into the crash. Their findings revealed that the vehicle had veered off the road and collided with several trees while attempting to negotiate a curve. Fortunately, no other individuals were involved in the accident. The identity of the deceased has been determined by the Shelby County Coroner’s Office, but out of respect for her family, it is being withheld until her next of kin have had the opportunity to notify other relatives. The Helena Police Department has confirmed that the young woman was a student at Helena High School.
