A male individual, aged 18, residing in the urban area, succumbed to a gunshot wound on Tuesday afternoon near the junction of Schuyler and Lansing streets, as confirmed by authorities. According to the Albany County Coroner, Tim Cavanaugh, the individual sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest at around 2:15 p.m. and subsequently passed away at 4:13 p.m. while undergoing surgical intervention at Albany Medical Centre Hospital.
On Tuesday, the police officially named the victim as Tyshawn Q. Daniels, a resident of Cohoes. According to officials, following the shooting incident, nearby residents provided immediate assistance in controlling the victim’s bleeding until the arrival of medical professionals. Several vehicles situated in the vicinity had evidence of projectile penetration.
On Tuesday afternoon, law enforcement authorities investigated a shooting incident, resulting in the temporary closure of a city block near the intersection of Schuyler and Lansing streets. The involvement of the State Police has been enlisted to aid with the investigation.
According to Acting City Police Chief Tom Ross, law enforcement officials extensively searched the vicinity by approaching local neighbours and inquiring about any potential observations. Additionally, efforts are being made to locate any available video recordings that may have documented the incident of the shooting.
